FAQ's

How do I Pay?
By far the easiest way to pay for your Romancing Speed Dating event is to use your credit/debit card online. We use  the Paypal  (
click here to find out more about Paypal) online payment system, which is both secure and easy to use. Once you have paid you will receive email confirmation of your purchase.

I want to but more than 1 ticket
If you want to purchase multiple tickets, simply click here and select the 'Buy Now' button indicating the number you require.

What do I wear?
We do not have a specific dress code. This is not a fashion show. First impressions count for a lot, however if you give a first impression that is miles away from the real you, your future dates with those you meet have little chance of success. Wear what you feel comfortable in.

What is the format for a Speed Dating event?
See our
How it Works page

How long do the events last?
With a break our events tend to last  2/3 hours depending on numbers. Most people tend to stay after the event for a few drinks and socialize with their new Romancing friends.

How many dates will I get?
You will get between 10 and 25 dates at a Romancing Dating event depending on response and of course location. We tend to prefer small intimate locations such as the 4DQ Bar in Taunton where the numbers will range from 10 and 15 dates.

Will the numbers of Girls and Boy's be equal?
We work very hard to make sure the numbers of male and female participants are equal or almost equal. Although we can never guarantee this.

How long do I get with each date?
You will get 3 - 5 minutes with each date. Basically if the numbers are high you'll be looking at 3 minutes and if low 5 minutes

Do I get time between dates to use my scorecard?
Yes - but not too long! You only need note down the name of the person their reference number and a yes or a no beside their name. We ask you to write these details after each date (should take less than a minute) so as not to cause you any embarrassment. Some Speed Dating companies ask you to tick a box if you want to see someone again - imagine how uncomfortable you will feel not writing anything after a date, your date will know you don't like them if you do nothing. The Romancing way means that everyone has to make a note after each date and thus avoiding embarrassment on either side.

Can I bring a friend for moral support?
Yes of course, although they will have to wait in the bar area once the Dating starts. We've seen  instances of friends giving marks out of 10, thumbs up or down, etc from the sidelines and causing a great deal of offence to other Daters.  At Romancing we want everyone to have a great evening in as much privacy as possible. You can of course rejoin your friend during the break or at the end of the evening.

How many people come on their own?
We have found 75% of our Romancing Daters come on their own. However if you'd like to bring a friend, you are more than welcome. Quite often friends join in, if there are any spare tickets available for the event.

What kind of people go speed dating?
Typically our Romancing  Daters are busy people that simply don't have the time to meet as many new friends as they would like. Our Daters are normal people who are prepared to put themselves out to meet someone new. Basically the kind of people you want to meet!

I'm Just outside your age guide for an event can I still attend?
Yes, provided you are aware that the majority of people will be aged within the age guide this is not a problem. For example if you consider yourself a young 39 and the age range is 25 - 35 then go for it.

How many events can I attend?
You are welcome to attend as many speed dating events as you like. Most people that attend events are new to speed dating so you are unlikely to meet the same people twice.

I'm not going to be able to get to an event - can I send a friend in my place?
Of course you can, provided they are the same sex as you this will not be a problem. Just give them a copy of your booking confirmation to take with them.

What's the Dress code?
We don't have a specific dress code. We would always suggest that you wear what you feel most comfortable in.
